“Nothing can dim the light that shines from within.” — Maya Angelou

About Me

My name is Renée Council, LCSW. I am passionate about helping people heal and grow from their past—to get to where they want to be personally and professionally.

I am a cycle-breaker: a first-generation college graduate who has worked to heal from childhood trauma and live an authentic life. My experience and training enable me to connect deeply with others on their healing journeys.

From my previous counseling experience in higher ed, high schools, as well as nonprofit work, I enjoy working with culturally diverse clientele. I am a proud native of Queens, NY.

Outside of work I enjoy time in nature, drawing, painting and traveling.

Approach

We are collaborators in your healing journey. My approach is trauma-informed and holistic—addressing mind and body. Attachment theory, somatic and mindfulness practices inform my work.

Training

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in virtual practice in Pennsylvania and Maryland. I obtained my Bachelors in Psychology from Vassar College, and my Master of Social Work from Hunter College. I have certification in working with Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents (ACEIP), clinical mental health & nutrition (CMNCS), and training in Brainspotting.
